Alright, here it is. I’m a writer, so bear with me.
This campaign was such a ride for me! I don’t regret anything and please know I truly did give it my all. If there’s one thing I learned, it’s that a campaign is not waged alone. So many people helped me along the way, and I would like thank all of you a hundred times!
HUGE shout out to Amber for running my social media and marketing! All the little and big things that would not have happened if left up to me.
Thank you to Elaine https://www.photosbyelain.com/ for the photos that made me look like I haven’t been stuck at home in sweats for 2 years!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to funding my campaign! We really exceeded what I anticipated here, and each donation was not only put to use in material ways but also served as a boost in motivation for me.
Supporters who took a sign, or shared a post, or otherwise helped me get my name out there, in ways that money can’t buy- thank you so much!
I owe such a debt to my volunteers. From group canvassing to the work you did on your own, thank you thank you thank you! You were all amazing.
To all fellow new local candidates for trustee who made time to connect with me- it is so much appreciated. I can’t imagine how isolating it would be to not have our online and real life connections during all this! You are so inspiring and motivating and I know we’ll stay connected. Jessica-Lee, Keith, Gananatha, Steven, Mamata, Sandra- you all inspired me in a much greater way than just this one campaign.
CONGRATS to my new friends Suzanne, Donna Dickson, Amanda, Alysha, !! You all are incredible incredible women and I’m so proud of you all! The OCDSB is so lucky to have you. (Keep me in the group chat, please?)
Thank you to the candidates for council who encouraged and supported me. Kathleen, you’re incredible and I value your encouragement- thank you for believing in me. Richard, thank you for your advice and kindness, I hope we’ll continue to run into each other as much as we have recently. I know you both will continue to make huge contributions to our community and I am proud to know you both.
To the current and former trustees who supported me in various ways, such big thanks. Much of your advice was priceless and it meant a lot to have your support and encouragement.
Thank you to Horizon and the RSU for your support! You all do so much for this city, and it matters.
Thank you to my family and friends who rooted me on from across the city and beyond!
And, thank you Mathieu for really being the jack-of-all-trades of everything campaign-related. Not sure anything at all would have gotten done without you. And little C, thank you for your patience and cooperation over the past few months. I’m not sure what lessons your little mind will take from this experience, but I hope it’s that if you stand up for what’s right, you’ll never do it alone.
Everyone who voted for or encouraged me- thank you!
Caring for each other in our communities will do more than what can ever be done at a board table. I know that for sure. Keep up the fight!
